NHW Meeting: Thursday, September 28

In case you missed the notification on our Forthcoming Events page, our inaugural meeting will be held at the Moulton Village Hall at 20:00 this coming Thursday, September 28. We have the hall for an hour, and I am planning on mainly listening to the current concerns of our residents and using this feedback to gauge how I can better assist Carey Fields’ inhabitants as your Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator going forward.

As always, if you need to get in touch at any other time, please feel free to drop me an email.

Alert: Guarding your letterbox

It has come to my attention that one of our residents has had something put through their letterbox which could potentially have been dangerous; the resident has pets and small children, any of whom would have suffered from ingesting this item.

Whether or not this was a prank or something worse, if you have children or pets please check wherever your mail lands and, if something comes through that you were not expecting, please let me know.

Needless to say, the police are now investigating this disturbing incident.

Force-wide anti-theft drive

I have received this message forwarded by Ian Fearnley, our Northants NHW administrator, from the Daventry and South Northants Neighbourhood Inspector, Kev Byrne:

Northamptonshire has in the past five years experienced an increase in theft offences across the county at this time of year, with last year being particularly high.

To this end, Northamptonshire Police will be running a force-wide operation between 25 September to the 30 November focusing on theft offences which cause the most harm to victims such as dwelling burglary, non-dwelling and theft from motor vehicle.

There will be dedicated patrols in place over this period. We will be looking at engaging with communities around crime prevention advice and intelligence gathering. There will be media coverage around this campaign during this period.

If you could share this information with your immediate contacts that would be appreciated.

If you have anything to report around suspicious activity or something you have witnessed please call 101 or in an emergency call 999.

Daventry & South Northants Community Survey

Katrina Heath, our Daventry & South Northants Police Neighbourhood Coordinator, has sent through the following survey link alongside the following text:

Daventry & South Northants Neighbourhood Teams would appreciate your time in completing a survey which will help us understand issues in your area. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete. We will keep you updated on how we are addressing priorities that come from your feedback.

Kind regards

HMRC: Phishing emails and bogus contact

An anti-fraud advisory has come through from Northamptonshire Police Community Connect: HMRC has some excellent information on protecting yourself from phishing attacks and bogus contact. The link to the full article is below.

(Another great rule of thumb is never to open any link from your email, and instead to always open a new browser window and type the full address of the site you wish to visit [such as www.gov.uk] along with the secure HTTPS protocol, i.e. https://www.gov.uk.)
