Local crime update: Good news!

We have received another of John Hutchings’ heartening "good news" emails! It is reproduced below.

Sorry I’ve been quiet over the last few weeks. As most of you are aware, there is a new service delivery model in place for Northamptonshire and having applied for my role, I am pleased to say that I’ve been selected to stay on the Neighbourhood team covering your area.

That said, the below report demonstrates my commitment to this area and the results gained in just 5 hours. Over the last 2-3 weeks I’ve recovered a stolen sit-on mower and quad bike from separate rural burglaries from my beat, located in Nottinghamshire! The below link tells you about an operation with my neighbourhood team counterpart from Market Harborough last Friday and today recovered a £40,000 stolen Mercedes and whilst doing so recovered a quantity of class A & B drugs.

Yesterday a home-made firearm was reported to me and recovered from a local farmer. This, when examined, was loaded! A GREAT SPOT by the farmer.

Greater working between Parish councils and local schools in Moulton have been discussed and I’m looking forward to taking this forward enhance communication and problem solving.

A farm location [was] visited following being a victim of crime. Good to see that security systems and devices are being installed to prevent being a repeat victim. Ideally consider putting these in place to prevent being a victim to start with. It’s not just the issue of machines or kit being stolen, but it’s the mental and physical effects that last longer.

With the nights drawing in, consider extra lighting, alarms and always secure your property. Mark property so that it can be easily identified and photograph it too.
